The Arc Effect (Live Wire): A standard wall switch only creates a 1 to 2mm gap inside the wire when turned off. A million-volt lightning surge easily ionizes the air, creating an electrical arc that jumps right across that tiny gap straight into your device.

The Highway (Neutral Wire) 🔌: Standard switches only break the Live wire. The Neutral wire stays continuously connected from the grid to your equipment's internal circuit board. When lightning spikes the grid, the surge travels down the uninterrupted Neutral line, frying your CCTV NVRs, POE switches, and routers instantly despite the switch being "OFF".

📋 Your Monsoon Safety Checklist:
1. Physical Disconnection is King: Pull the plugs entirely out of the wall sockets before the storm peaks. Creating a wide physical air gap is the only 100% reliable way to isolate hardware from both Live and Neutral surges.

What we did for this project:

Deployed 5 Dahua 2MP Smart Dual Light cameras to give full, clear live monitoring across the reception desks, waiting zones, and service floors (Images 1–3).

Every single camera is mounted neatly on a white junction box with the cabling fully hidden inside rigid PVC conduit piping to match the walls (Images 4 & 6).

Behind the scenes (Image 5): We always advise our clients to install a dedicated network rack box to protect the core equipment from dust and tampering. However, the customer specifically requested to keep the DVR, SMPS power supply fixed openly to the wall as already they have installed Internet Router in same way. We still made sure to tie and route the outgoing cables as cleanly as possible to keep it manageable!
